Boston Red Sox free agent shortstop Xander Bogaerts needs to stay In Boston. Bogaerts, 30, has been apart of the Sox’s organization since he was 16 years old. He has come up through the Boston organization ranks and during his first season in the majors back in 2013 he won his first World Series with the team. The shortstop position is definitely a need this offseason for Boston. All of Boston knows from ownership and President of Baseball Operations Chaim Bloom they are eager to get a deal sooner than later. Bogaerts has had very productive seasons throughout his tenure with Boston so the least the team can do is give him a contract he deserves.

Bogey’s Career Stats With the Red Sox
Bogaerts has hit 156 HR’s along with 683 RBI’s, adding 1,410 career hits while producing a .292 career average during his 10-year career in Boston. Those are very impressive numbers for one of the best shortstops in the league during that time. The productivity that Bogey brings to the field day in and day out is incredible because he is so consistent each season and his play on the field and at-bat back its up as well.
Projection For Bogaerts MLB Future
After signing a six-year $120MM extension back in April of 2019, Bogaerts opted out of his contract leaving three-years and $60MM from the Red Sox deal. He will look at the open market whether it would be In Boston or elsewhere look for Bogey to find a deal within the 5-6 year range and looking at $150-180MM, $25-30MM per season. It will be very interesting what the Red Sox can do to retain one of their franchise players in the coming months and make sure to keep him in a Red Sox uniform.
