All things considered, most teams have their signal-caller moving forward but there are some that need one this season via the NFL Draft. Undoubtedly, the likely first two QBs going off the board will be Mailk Willis of Liberty and Kenny Pickett of Pittsburgh. That being said, here are two, maybe three, teams that will look to draft a QB.
Carolina Panthers: QB is a number one priority in NFL Draft
In this case, head coach Matt Rhule needs to get this position right because he’s in one of the hottest seats in the league. Now, the question is which one will they select at number six. Comparatively, I lean towards Willis slightly over Pickett because of the mobility. Also, either one could supplant Sam Darnold under center.
least efficient non-rookie QBs when trailing, by year, since 2019:
2021 – Sam Darnold (CAR)
2020 – Sam Darnold (NYJ)
2019 – Sam Darnold (NYJ)(min 200 att)

With respect to the passing game, there was none in Carolina in the 2021 season. In total, they were 29th in passing yards (3,239 yards) and next to last in passing touchdowns (14). Besides Darnold, Carolina had Cam Newton and P.J. Walker start games for them.
Emphatically, there’s, no QB on the current roster that’s the answer. For Rhule, this could very well be his final year in Charlotte.
Seattle Seahawks: Is Drew a Lock as the signal-caller?
Although Seattle received Drew Lock in the trade that sent Russell Wilson to the Broncos, they could still go QB. Selecting at number nine in the draft, I love Willis here should he still be there. By all means, my dear friend Nate Polvogt sold me on this after reading his piece here.
NFC starting QBs ranked
1 Aaron Rodgers
2 Tom Brady
3 Matthew Stafford
4 Dak Prescott
5 Kyler Murray
6 Kirk Cousins
7 Carson Wentz
8 Jimmy Garoppolo
9 Justin Fields
10 Daniel Jones
11 Jameis Winston
12 Jalen Hurts
13 Jared Goff
14 Drew Lock
15 Marcus Mariota
16 Sam Darnold— Jarrett Bailey (@JBaileyNFL) April 5, 2022
In any event, I like Pickett but the question is will GM John Schneider pick him if Willis is gone? At any rate, replacing Wilson is no easy task but the Seahawks could look to draft his heir apparent in 2022.
Detroit Lions: Looking to replace Goff?
Detroit has the second overall pick and the 32nd pick in this year’s draft. While I don’t see them drafting QB at two, they could go that route at 32. Even though Willis and Pickett could be off the board by 32, there are options. QBs like Matt Corral of Ole Miss, Desmond Ridder of Cincinnati, and Sam Howell of North Carolina are possible selections.
Desmond Ridder is a name that’s buzzing in league circles. During team interviews, the QB made clear he plans to beat out a veteran in camp.

In truth, the team could move on from Jared Goff after this season and have his successor already in place for 2023. Henceforth, the NFL Draft class for 2023 for QBs could be more appealing but we’ll see what the Lions do.
