As one of the most exciting tournaments in the world of soccer continues, the round of 16 of the Champions League took place today. While drawing much attention to it due to the caliber of talent in the teams advancing, the draw today took a dramatic turn as the managing board, UEFA, blundered the round of 16 forcing a redo. Something that has never happened in the history of this tournament.
UEFA Forces Redo of Draw
Just as fans were ready for what seemed to be an insane round of 16 lining up, UEFA took to Twitter to announce a redo shortly after the blunder was discovered.
Following a technical problem with the software of an external service provider that instructs the officials as to which teams are eligible to play each other, a material error occurred in the draw for the UEFA Champions League Round of 16.

The managing body immediately blamed it on a technical problem. Meanwhile, Soccer Twitter blew up as it was clear that the software company utilized to do the draw had no experience in this tournament. In years of existence of this tournament, never have fans had to witness the UEFA round of 16 draw be butchered and blundered like this one was today.
What Does the Round of 16 Look Like Now?
A lot of fans seemed upset and rightfully so after the matter.
For starters, one of the matches that was heavily anticipated was Cristiano Ronaldo vs. Lionel Messi as in the initial draw, Manchester United was paired up against PSG.
Moreover, fan bases like Real Madrid were ready to throw hands as their original pairing was with SL Benfica. Now, they prepare to take on PSG with the homecoming of team legend, Sergio Ramos returning to the Bernabeu.
In Conclusion…
UEFA blundering the round of 16 draw should come to the surprise of nobody to be honest.
For awhile now, it is clear as day that UEFA has lost a handle on things. It all started with the Super League that they were about to allow happen last year and now this year blaming it on others but themselves.
