The Boston Celtics are fighting for a spot in the top eight as it currently stands in the Eastern Conference. Let’s face it Celtics fans. This isn’t a championship team at the moment. But, there is always the NBA trade deadline to try and get your team better with a big move or two. I know it’s very early for this. But let’s face it…the Celtics need to make some moves at the NBA trade deadline to make any type of playoff run. So why not speculate and come up with three moves the Celtics should pursue at the NBA trade deadline? Let’s get into it!
Celtics NBA Trade Deadline Move #1: Trade Away Dennis Schröder
Dennis Schröder has been a nice addition to the Celtics this season. But the reality is Dennis Schröder won’t be a Celtic in the 2022-2023 season. So why not trade him now while his value is high? He’s averaging 17 points per game on 44% shooting from the field. He can be an asset on any team he plays for this season. Plus, this is the same guy that had a four year contract on the table from the Lakers in the off-season. You might as well cut ties at the deadline to get the money off the books and prepare for a big off-season…assuming big trade deadline moves don’t happen.
Move #2: Trade for Domantas Sabonis
The Indiana Pacers are heading toward a full-fledged rebuild. Domantas Sabonis is a two time All-star who is averaging 18 points and 12 rebounds a game this season. He wants out of Indiana. So shouldn’t the Celtics come in and try to make a move to get him to Boston? Sabonis is a rebounder, which is something the Celtics need, considering they always struggle with rebounding every season. He can play the power forward or center position, which the Celtics could use to pair up with Robert Williams. Shoutout to Suplex Biddies co-host Andrew Hunneman for this idea because honestly, it’s a pretty good idea.
Move #3: Trade for Karl-Anthony Towns
A different big man move could be for T’Wolves star Karl-Anthony Towns. We know that Towns wants out of Minnesota because they just aren’t good. They’re .500 this season at 15-15 and that’s a great season for them. That should tell you everything you need to know right there. Get on the phone with Minnesota and see what you can do to get KAT in Boston. He can stretch the floor and still be a force down low.
In Conclusion
We’ll see what happens when the trade deadline comes. Will the Celtics make a move? I don’t know. They got Evan Fournier at the deadline last year. Who’s to say they won’t have some fireworks happen this year? If they have a shot to make a serious playoff run, they’ll need some help at the deadline to do it. Let’s see what Brad Stevens can do for this Celtics team!
