The Boston Celtics went out and got two important pieces to add to their bench. They signed Danilo Gallinari to a two year deal, worth a little more than 13 million dollars. The Celtics also sent a haul of players to the Indiana Pacers in exchange for guard Malcolm Brogdon. Brogdon and Gallinari were introduced to the Boston media today during a press conference, to showcase the two new Celtics players. Here are a few thoughts from the press conference yesterday!
Celtics Press Conference Note #1: Brad Stevens loves Malcolm Brogdon

So Brad Stevens made it really clear that he loves Malcolm Brogdon. When Stevens was the head coach at Butler, he tried to recruit Brogdon. Brogdon ended up attending the University of Virginia instead. Obviously now, Stevens is happy to be able to land the former UVA guard. Brogdon will be a steady presence for the Celtics off the bench, as the sixth man. He also mentioned his grandfather being a really big Bill Russell fan. So now we see why Brad was willing to part with a first round pick in 2023 and five players for the guard.
Celtics Press Conference Note #2: Danilo Gallinari grew up a Celtics fan
I don’t know what it is, but it’s cool to see when guys play for teams they grew up loving. Danilo Gallinari came right out and said that he has been a Celtics fan since he was young. Brad Stevens went on to mention about Gallinari’s ability to score the basketball and his versatility. Along with Brogdon, Danilo Gallinari will be big in boosting the Celtics bench. It’s cool to see how big of a smile Gallinari had when he was talking about his love for the Celtics as a young boy.
Note #3: These guys just want to win!
The bottom line is that the Celtics have two guys that just want to win a championship. Gallinari is 33 and Brogdon is 29. They just want to win it all at this point. So it’s good to see that Brad Stevens is bringing in good quality guys to the organization. If they can contribute on the court, then the Celtics will be much more of a threat to win it all in the 2022-2023 season. Welcome to Boston, Malcolm Brogdon and Danilo Gallinari!
