Hey barbeque fans, starting this weekend you can beat a path to East Boston to satisfy all your carnivorous cravings; chef-owner (and cookbook author and award-winning pitmaster) Andy Husbands is opening the newest location of The Smoke Shop on Sunday, July 2nd.
Like its sister restaurants in Kendall Square, Harvard Square, Assembly Row and the Seaport (and its baby sister at Hub Hall), the new outpost will serve both lunch and dinner – they’ll be open Monday through Thursday from 11:30am-9:00pm and then Friday and Saturday from 11:30am-10:00pm, so you’ll have plenty of chances to nosh on all your faves. And, speaking of faves, you can expect to get all of your go-to’s, the menu mirrors the ones at the other venues so you can have your fill of wings, ribs, brisket, pulled pork, burnt ends and more (and be sure to save room for butter cake). It’s worth noting that, to start, they’ll be going without a full liquor license though they’re working on it (you can read all about it here).
Street parking can be hard to come by in Eastie so Husbands recommends taking the T (they’re just a couple minutes away from the Maverick T stop on the Blue Line) or the complimentary boat shuttle (get the ferry details here).
The new location, perched right on the waterfront at 45 Lewis Street, has three separate patios for taking in some of the best views around – from Charlestown right to the edge of the Seaport – so make the most of the warm weather and head across the harbor for some al fresco ‘que.
