The Bahamas Bowl kicks off the bowl season on Friday afternoon. We have a matchup between Middle Tennessee State (6-6) and Toledo (7-5). The matchup between Conference USA and the MAC will be a fun way to kick of the 2021 bowl season. With that being said here is my preview for the Bahamas Bowl.
Middle Tennessee State
The Blue Raiders are 6-5-1 against the spread this season. They have won four out of their last six, but there are some question marks surrounding them. Middle Tennessee State has been playing a good portion of the season with their third and fourth string quarterbacks. That Blue Raider offense is definitely a big mystery on how well they will play come kickoff. However, Middle Tennessee State does have a solid defense. They have allowed more than 20 points in a game twice in their last six games. This defense will need to create turnovers against a Toledo offense that doesn’t really turn the ball over much. Let’s just say things will have to go right for Middle Tennesse State if they want to win this football game.
Toledo
This Toledo offense has come alive the last few games of the regular season. Toledo had high hopes coming into the year, but after a rough start the Rockets finally found their footing. Freshman quarterback Dequan Finn has been solid the last three games as he has eight touchdowns in those three games. Toledo’s rushing offense is a well-balanced attack that is led by junior running back Bryant Koback. Koback is 11th in the country in rushing yards (1,274) and has seen his usage go up a ton after the insert of Finn at quarterback. Toledo’s defense helped save them in games early on in the season and they are kind of lucky to be 7-5 at this point. I think Toledo’s offense is going to be clicking on all cylinders which will be tough for Middle Tennessee State.
Prediction:
The line is set at Toledo -10 and the over/under is 50.5. Middle Tennessee State has too many question marks for me to want to take them with the points. We will stay away from the line, but we will take the total. The play is the over 50.5 points. Both teams will score, and Toledo wins somewhere along the lines of 31-21.
