Weekday afternoons just got a little tastier at Shy Bird South Boston, where they’ve launched The Shy Hour, which is kind of like a happy hour but not exactly (’cause that’s not a thing ’round these parts). Duck out of work a tad early (or just pack up your laptop and get mobile) and head to Southie Monday through Friday between 4:00 and 6:00pm to feast on 50-cent dunks (fried chicken bites, for all you newbies), $9 sandos like the Dunk Dog (pictured above, it’s SB Dunks on a brioche bun with black pepper mayo, chipotle BBQ, fried shallots and scallions), specialty cocktails (like Irish Riviera and the Southie Sour), and $3.50 beers. It’s about as close as a Massachusetts joint can get to happy hour, but maybe even better – definitely more delicious. Heads up: these deals are available at the South Boston location only so book an afternoon/early evening table as you see fit (online here through OpenTable) and get ready for an afternoon of amazing deals, delicious bites, and refreshing bevvies.
