NFL Mock Draft 3.0 Part 2

Must read

Yesterday it was all about the first half. Today, for the last time before Thursday night’s draft it’s time to reveal this NFL Mock Draft 3.0 part 2!

17. Los Angeles Chargers (9-8): Charles Cross OT Mississippi State

Giants Take OT Charles Cross No. 7 - CBSSports.com

The Chargers get a steal at 17. Cross is pancake machine and never gives up sacks. Justin Herbert will have plenty of time to throw the ball with Cross on the offensive line. This pick is simple, pick the best available player.

18. Philadelphia Eagles (9-8; from New Orleans 9-8): Garrett Wilson WR Ohio State

CBS Sports HQ NFL Mock Draft: No. 13 Garrett Wilson - CBSSports.com

Garrett Wilson is a master at getting separation. Jalen Hurts will be drooling with the talent that’s sitting around him at receiver. Wilson is the replacement for Jalen Raegor who has been a bust for the Eagles. Pairing up Wilson with DeVonta Smith… good luck to the NFC East defenders next season.

19. New Orleans Saints (9-8; from Philadelphia 9-8): Roger McCreary CB Auburn

2022 NFL Draft: Auburn's Roger McCreary has been tested in the SEC and emerged as a potential first-round pick - CBSSports.com

McCreary isn’t the flashiest player but he gets the job done. The Saints need someone else in the secondary other than Marshon Lattimore. Lattimore will essentially be a teacher for McCreary. Again, McCreary isn’t flashy but he makes key third down plays to get off the field.

20. Pittsburgh Steelers (9-7-1): Matt Corral QB Ole Miss

2022 NFL Mock Draft: Seahawks grab Matt Corral after trade, Kenny Pickett falls to end of round - CBSSports.com

The Steelers take the best available quarterback at 20. Tragically, quarterback Dwayne Haskins passed away, leaving Mitch Trubisky and Mason Rudolph in the quarterback room. Both Trubisky and Rudolph are not franchise quarterbacks. Matt Corral is.

21. New England Patriots (10-7): Nakobe Dean LB Georgia

2022 NFL Draft: Georgia LB Nakobe Dean declares after award-winning junior season with Bulldogs - CBSSports.com

Nakobe Dean is the best available player at 21. A tackling machine and a menace for offensive lines to stop. It’s not secret that New England is trying to get younger at linebacker. Dean is a Belichick-like player. This is a match made in heaven for both Dean and New England.

22. Green Bay Packers (13-4; from Vegas 10-7): Treylon Burks WR Arkansas

Treylon Burks will elevate Arkansas offense in 2021 - CBSSports.com

It’s no secret the Packers need a wide receiver with Devante Adams now being in Vegas. Aaron Rodgers needs someone to throw the ball to. Green Bay needs someone who has the potential to be a number one wide receiver. Burks had an awful combine but has caused him to drop a few spots. But, the Packers still get an explosive playmaker.

23. Arizona Cardinals (11-6): Trevor Penning OT Northern Iowa

2022 NFL Draft top sleeper prospects: Northern Iowa's Trevor Penning, Coastal Carolina pass rusher headline - CBSSports.com

Give Kyler Murray more time to throw the ball. That’s what this pick is all about. Penning is another pancake machine that doesn’t let defenders get by him. With Kyler Murray being a mobile quarterback, Penning will have his work cut out for him. But, with how little he gives up sacks, it shouldn’t be a problem.

24. Dallas Cowboys (12-5): Kenyon Green OL Texas A&M

NFL Mock Draft: Texas A&M Aggies Kenyon Green to Dallas Cowboys in First Round? - Sports Illustrated Texas A&M Aggies News, Analysis and More

The Cowboys need help on the offensive line. Kenyon Green can help them with any position on the line. This is a must for Dallas to take Green at 24 unless one of the top linemen somehow drop to them at 24 (or they trade up). If Dallas drafts any other position than offensive line in the first round… good luck to Dak being protected next season.

25. Buffalo Bills (11-6): Jermaine Johnson DE Florida State

The Bills get the steal of the first round. Johnson falls to Buffalo as the Bills add a defensive weapon. Johnson has a chance to be selected in the middle of the first round but instead he falls into Buffalo’s lap at 25. His pass rushing ability will give the Bills a chance to win their first super bowl in franchise history.

26. Tennessee Titans (12-5): Lewis Cine S Georgia

Lewis Cine Strengths And Weaknesses - CBSSports.com

The Titans bolster their secondary. Cine can make open field tackles and can run down defenders. The Titans address a big need for them as they remember what Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase did to them in the playoffs last season.

27. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (13-4): Zion Johnson OT Boston College

Protect Tom Brady. That’s what this pick is all about. When Tom Brady originally retired the Bucs also lost Ali Marpet to retirement. Now that Brady is back, and Marpet isn’t, there is a hole in the offensive line. Tampa can either have Johnson play guard or have someone on their offensive line move over to guard and insert Johnson to the missing tackle position.

28. Green Bay Packers (13-4): Tyler Linderbaum C Iowa

The Packers get Aaron Rodgers some protection at 28. Tyler Linderbaum will compete to be the starting center and has a chance to be the week one starter. Green Bay addresses the offense on night one and makes Aaron Rodgers more than happy. Linderbaum is another offensive lineman that is NFL ready.

29. Kansas City Chiefs (12-5; from Miami 9-8 through San Francisco 10-7): Jahan Dotson WR Penn State

Jahan Dotson Joins CBS Sports HQ - CBSSports.com

The rich get richer. Dotson joins a wide receiver room with JuJu Smith-Schuster and Marquez Valdes-Scantling. Dotson is the future number one receiver for Patrick Mahomes who will be without Tyreek Hill who has been a security blanket for him. Last season, Dotson was one of the best receivers in the Big Ten and has a chance to be in the running for rookie of the year.

30. Kansas City Chiefs (12-5): Devonte Wyatt DT Georgia

Eagles Take DT Devonte Wyatt No. 15 - CBSSports.com

Wyatt recently has been questioned about his character. For that reason he drops to 30 and lands in Kansas City. This pick takes pressure off of Chris Jones who constantly is double teamed. Now, offensive lines have to worry about Wyatt and Jones rushing the quarterback.

31. Cincinnati Bengals (10-7): Bernhard Raimann OL Central Michigan

Bernhard Raimann Joins CBS Sports HQ from NFL Combine - CBSSports.com

Protect Joe Burrow. If Burrow had just a few more seconds on the final play of the Super Bowl, there’s a chance the Bengals would have won it all. But, the weak offensive line showed and now the Bengals have spent the offseason improving their offensive line and they do it here at 31. Raimann can play the line and is a pancake machine and rarely lets anyone get by him.

32. Detroit Lions (3-13-1; from Los Angeles 12-5): Andrew Booth Jr CB Clemson

NFL Draft 2022: Projected first-round pick Andrew Booth Jr. underwent sports hernia surgery, per report - CBSSports.com

A new face to finish off this NFL Mock Draft 3.0 part 2! Last season, Booth had 37 tackles, three interceptions and five passes defended. He doesn’t get tested often due to him shutting down his opponents. Booth would be lining up with Justin Jefferson twice a season. The Lions improve their secondary to end the first round.
