NFL Mock Draft 2.0 Part 2

Must read

Yesterday, the first half of the NFL Draft got their chance to participate in the second version of this mock draft. Now, it’s time for the second half to do their best. Let’s get into this NFL mock draft 2.0 part 2!

17. Los Angeles Chargers (9-8): Charles Cross OT Mississippi State

Charles Cross Joins CBS Sports HQ -

Any rookie drafted into the AFC West has their work cut out for them after the crazy offseason the division has had. This pick is all about protecting Justin Herbert. Herbert is one of the best young quarterbacks in the league and will need top of the line protection to allow him to grow. Cross rarely gives up any sacks or tackles behind the line of scrimmage. Cross’ drop officially ends and the Chargers front office should be celebrating that Cross fell to them.

18. Philadelphia Eagles (9-8; from New Orleans 9-8): Treylon Burks WR Arkansas

Treylon Burks proud to be latest star at Arkansas from Warren High School -

Say hello to Jalen Raegor’s replacement. Yes, Burks had an awful combine. But, a combine shouldn’t define who a player is and what they’re capable of one the field. Everyone has a bad day at the office. Burks was able to prove what kind of player he is on the field this past season at Arkansas. Pairing up Burks with Devonta Smith, can and will be a nightmare for defenses in the NFL if chemistry is built with Jalen Hurts. This Eagles offense has the real chance to be dangerous.

19. New Orleans Saints (9-8; from Philadelphia 9-8): Ahmad Gardner CB Cincinnati

2022 NFL Draft: Cincinnati CB Ahmad Gardner declares after dominant career with Bearcats program -

For now, New Orleans gets the steal of the night. But, there’s a chance Gardner continues to climb up towards the top ten. This pick is simple, Gardner is the best available at 19 and New Orleans takes a swing. New Orleans continues to bolster their secondary with this pick too. Again, Gardner at 19 is a steal.

20. Pittsburgh Steelers (9-7-1): Matt Corral QB Ole Miss

2022 NFL Draft: Ole Miss' Matt Corral explains what he has done to become a potential first-round pick -

Yes the Steelers signed Mitchell Trubisky in the offseason but that’s not enough to fill in the void at the quarterback position. Trusbisky isn’t the next franchise quarterback. Matt Corral is. Will Corral be a day one starter? Time will tell but the Steelers use this pick to select their next franchise quarterback.

21. New England Patriots (10-7): Jameson Williams WR Alabama

NFL Draft 2022: Alabama's Jameson Williams 'shooting for' being ready by training camp after ACL injury -

Patriots fans, it’s happening. The Patriots are picking a wide receiver and finally it’s the right receiver. The curse of drafting wide receivers in the first round comes to an end and New England finally has their number one receiver. Now, Williams will be a project because he is currently rehabbing an ACL injury. But, considering Williams was coached by Nick Saban, most likely he’ll have a smooth transition to being coached by Bill Belichick.

22. Green Bay Packers (13-4; from Vegas 10-7): Chris Olave WR Ohio State

WATCH: Ohio State star WR Chris Olave breaks all-time school record for TD receptions vs. Michigan State -

Somehow someway, Chris Olave falls to Green Bay’s lap at 22. With Aaron Rodgers back, Olave will have one of the best quarterbacks throwing him the ball. Even though Davante Adams is gone, Olave will still have the chance to learn how to be the best receiver in the league. Olave is a day one starter in Green Bay and has to chance to eventually make the impact Adams did early on in his Green Bay career.

23. Arizona Cardinals (11-6): Trevor Penning OT Northern Iowa

2022 NFL Draft top sleeper prospects: Northern Iowa's Trevor Penning, Coastal Carolina pass rusher headline -

Kyler Murray has made it known that he is unhappy with the team. But, for now Murray will remain a Cardinal. Why not get him protection? Trevor Penning is a wall of his own and very rarely gets beat. He might not be fast, but he can hold up multiple pass rushers at once if needed and can buy any quarterback enough time to make a play. Murray might not be happy with the organization as a whole but this pick will crack a smile on his face.

24. Dallas Cowboys (12-5): Kenyon Green OL Texas A&M

CBS Sports: Alabama game a

The offensive line needs work in Dallas. Kenyon Green can play the line. He’s exactly what Dallas needs in order to protect Dak Prescott. Plus, this gives Ezekiel Elliott a chance to shine as a running back as well after a few seasons of disappointment.

25. Buffalo Bills (11-6): Kaiir Elam CB Florida

Montinar says the sky is the limit for Kaiir Elam -

With Tre’Davious White rehabbing his knee injury the Bills need to do something at the cornerback position. Elam was one of the best cornerback’s in the SEC and has the ability to be a shutdown corner. Being in a division with Tyreek Hill, the Bills as well as the Patriots and Jets will have to stop that passing attack Miami is threatening to have. Elam can be what Tre’Davious White has been for Buffalo.

26. Tennessee Titans (12-5): Devonte Wyatt DT Georgia

Devonte Wyatt, Georgia, Defensive Line

This pick is simple for the Titans. Get someone who can disrupt the offensive line. Wyatt is a tackling machine who can get after the quarterback. Wyatt will be a project for Tennessee to develop. But once he develops, he will be a monster on the defensive line. He had a solid showing at the NFL Combine.

27. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (13-4): Bernhard Raimann OL Central Michigan

Bernhard Raimann Joins CBS Sports HQ from NFL Combine -

The Buccaneers need someone who can play just about any position on the offensive line. Tom Brady is back but he needs protection. Raimann is another player who can play either offensive tackle or offensive guard. This pick makes Tom Brady very happy for what could be the last season of his career (for real this time).

28. Green Bay Packers (13-4): Jermaine Johnson DE Florida State

Florida State defender Jermaine Johnson poised for big payday after breakout 2021 season

Earlier the Packers addressed a big need and took a wide receiver. Now they’re taking a pass rusher who can go after Kirk Cousins, Justin Fields and Jared Goff twice a year. Johnson will be a work in progress but he can make the necessary tackles on third down. Plus, he provides more chances for the offense to come on to the field, which will make Aaron Rodgers very happy.

29. Kansas City Chiefs (12-5; from Miami 9-8 through San Francisco 10-7): Lewis Cine S Georgia

Lewis Cine, Georgia, Safety

Kansas City lost Tyrann Mathieu this offseason and needs a replacement. Lewis Cine is a tackling machine. In his career he has only missed eleven career tackling attempts. Cine played a huge role towards the end of the season that helped Georgia capture it’s first College Football Playoff Championship. This is a massive improvement adding Cine.

30. Kansas City Chiefs (12-5): Tyler Linderbaum C Iowa

Tyler Linderbaum, Iowa offensive lineman, donates $30K from NIL money to local children's hospital -

This pick is purely based on who is the best available player. Once again, the most NFL ready offensive lineman slips to the end of the first round. Kansas City, who last season improved their offensive line, continues that trend with this pick.

31. Cincinnati Bengals (10-7): Zion Johnson OT Boston College

Boston College OL Zion Johnson announces return for 2021

Protect Joe Burrow. That’s what the Bengals need to do. They’ve addressed the offensive line this offseason and with Tyler Linderbaum taken one pick before them, Cincinnati takes the next best offensive lineman.

32. Detroit Lions (3-13-1; from Los Angeles Rams 12-5): Jahan Dotson WR Penn State

Jahan Dotson Joins CBS Sports HQ -

To end the first round, the Lions take a chance on star wideout from Penn State Jahan Dotson. Dotson had 91 receptions for 1,182 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns this past season. Dotson would be a day one starter for Detroit and has the potential to be the number one receiver for the Lions.
