Gardner Minshew is an absolute competitor on the gridiron and he led his Philadelphia Eagles to victory over the Jets.
Now, beating the lowly Jets isn’t something to get overly excited about, but Minshew looked pretty good.
During the Eagles opening drive, Minshew led the Eagles down the field quickly. He went 3-for-3 and threw for 61 yards, the drive ended with a 36-yard pass to Dallas Goedert.

On the Eagles’ second drive, Minshew and Goedert connected for a second time for a touchdown. The 25-yard pass gave the Eagles the lead for the second time of the game. The Eagles tight end had five catches for 98 yards.

Eagles quarterback Gardner Minshew / Image courtesy of NFL.comMeanwhile, Minshew was electric to open the game for the Eagles. The 25-year-old quarterback started the game 8-for-8 with 125 yards passing and the two touchdowns to Goedert.
Minshew had a perfect 158.3 quarterback rating in the first half. In the process, he also matched Donovan McNabb for the highest first-half completion rate (93.3%) by an Eagles signal caller since 1991.
Minshew would finish the game 20-for-25 with 242 yards, two touchdowns and a 133.7% quarterback rating.

Minshew Mania
Minshew started for an injured Jalen Hurts and he didn’t disappoint. This was first game since last season with the Jaguars. The Eagles traded for Minshew during the offseason and he brought his swagger and confidence to the city of Philadelphia.
The colorful and exuberant Minshew was fired up after the big win. Minshew and his dad celebrated the big moment following the game. Flint Minshew, Garnder’s dad knew his son would be destined fort great things especially in the NFL.

“I honestly — and I know people aren’t gonna believe this — I honestly thought he’d become an NFL quarterback the whole time,” said the elder Minshew to Jacksonville.com back in 2019.
While this past week with Minshew under center is likely a one off due to Hurts injury, Eagles have a capable backup. More importantly they have a confident backup who showed he can play in Nick Sirianni’s offense. Eagles fans are excited about his performance on Sunday and who knows, maybe they’ll see more Minshew Mania before the season is over.
