If you haven’t jumped on the College Baseball bandwagon yet, you are doing a complete disservice to yourself. On Friday night, the NCAA Baseball season continued to provide amazing moments on the baseball diamond.
LSU started their weekend off with a massive win after they took down the Oklahoma Sooners in extra innings. The Tigers would win 5-4 after a walk-off yak from Jordan Thompson.
The Tigers sophomore infielder was due for a hit in the game, he entered the at-bat 0-for-3 on the night. With the count 2-and-1, Thompson hit a big league homer deep into the Houston night. The Chula Vista, Calif. native sent the Griffin Miller pitch into the left field porch for the win.

Josiah Sightler sends the baseball into orbit
The South Carolina Gamecocks kicked off a huge series against the Clemson Tigers. Gamecocks starter Will Sanders struck out a career-high 14 batters. South Carolina owned the Tigers through the better part of seven innings.
Sanders entered the game 2-0 with a 2.37 ERA and dominated the Tigers. In addition to Sanders, Gamecock’s Josiah Sightler hit a massive home run in the bottom of the sixth inning. With the game tied 1-1, Sightler sent a solo-homer into the sky and then after he rounded third, he would stomp a mud hole into home plate.

Despite the heroics in the sixth inning, the Clemson Tigers came back to defeat the Gamecocks, 3-2 in a great SEC battle.
Northeastern put on a web gem factory against NC State
The No. 8 ranked NC State Wolfpack fell to the Northeastern Huskies on Friday 6-1. The Wolfpack wasn’t able to get any offense going in part to some stellar defense from the Huskies.
In the bottom of the fourth, the hottest hitter in college baseball, Tommy White hit a chopper between the Huskies shortstop Max Viera and their third baseman.

As White was hustling down the first base line, Viera made a backhanded stop sliding into left field and fired the ball to first. He would cut down White with his amazing play for the second out of the inning.

Viera wasn’t the only Huskies’ defender to make an amazing play in the field. Centerfielder Mike Sirota flashed some leather robbing senior Devonte Brown of a home run on the bottom of the sixth. The Huskies freshman had a perfect day at the dish finishing 3-for-3 with two doubles, two runs scored, and three runs batted in.
College Baseball Saturday
The college baseball action continues on Saturday!
The Tennessee Vols will take on Baylor and hopefully the No. 16 ranked Vols continue to mash at the plate. The Vols have channeled their inner-Red Sox with home run celebrations. Tennessee introduced a cheetah-print coat as a home run celebration.
“That is another Evan Russell creation,” third baseman Trey Lipscomb said. “He has the cheetah print pimp coat. We like it. Just put it on your shoulders or whatever.”
Gonzaga shocked No.4 Oklahoma State on Friday night and will look to carry that momentum into Saturday’s game.
Will Tommy Tanks provide social media with more massive home runs? The NC State Wolfpack will look to get revenge against the Northeastern Huskies in Game 2 of their series.
