Frisco Football Classic Bowl Preview

Must read

The Frisco Football Classic Bowl has some potential to be a great game bowl game to watch. We have a Conference USA team going up against a MAC team. This matchup is between North Texas (6-6) and Miami Ohio (6-6). Two completely different styles of offense going at it here will create some great football in my opinion. With that being said here is my Frisco Football Classic Bowl preview.

North Texas

The Mean Green started the season off 1-5 and they won their last five games to become bowl eligible. The team that they beat to become bowl eligible is none other than UTSA. This North Texas offense is very run heavy, and they are led by running back DeAndre Torrey. Torrey has 1,215 rushing yards this season to go with 13 rushing touchdowns as well. The Mean Green rush offense is ranked seventh in the country in rushing yards per game (247.8). They like to control the tempo and will look to keep that Miami Ohio defense on the field.

I just think that the Mean Green are in a good spot here in this matchup. Miami is good at passing the football, but struggle at running the football. So, if the Mean Green make the Redhawks beat them on the ground then it will be a long game for the Redhawks. Look for this Mean Green offense to control the time of possession and run the football down the throat of Miami Ohio.

Miami Ohio

This Redhawks offense is very pass heavy and are led by quarterback Brett Gabbert. Gabbert has thrown for 2,418 passing yards with a touchdown to interception ratio of 24/6. Miami Ohio away from home this year has not been great. 1-6 away from home and this team is not the same team. I love the offense for Miami Ohio, but their defense is the problem with this team. Away from home they give up 30.8 points per game which is not great. North Texas scores 30.1 points per game away from home as well.

If the Redhawks are going to win they are going to need their passing game to be very effective. If they can keep North Texas’ defense on their toes this team should be able to control the pace of this game. Miami controlling the pace of this game means that North Texas is in trouble.

Prediction:

Miami Ohio is 3-point favorites and the over/under is 54.5. My lean is the under here as for Miami Ohio in their last eight neutral site games the under is 7-1 in those games. My official play is none other than North Texas +3. I think Miami Ohio struggles against this North Texas rushing attack. Also, the Mean Green are 5-1 against the spread in their last six games as an underdog. Love the Mean Green in this spot here and might take the money line as well.
