With the way COVID-19 is right now in the NBA, names we haven’t heard in a minute are suddenly reappearing. The Celtics have went out and signed guys like Joe Johnson and Al-Farouq Aminu to 10-day contracts to have a little bit of a bench. But there’s one other name that is available and interesting: Isaiah Thomas. Thomas has been linked back to the Celtics for a few years now. So that bares the question: could now be the time for the Celtics to sign free agent guard Isaiah Thomas?
Isaiah Thomas is NOT going back to Los Angeles
The Lakers and Isaiah Thomas won’t do a second 10-day contract, making him a free agent, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. Multiple teams are expected to express interest in Thomas, who averaged 9.3 points in four games for Lakers.

The Lakers signed Thomas to a 10-day contract not too long ago. They’re not bringing Thomas back on another 10-day contract. Keep in mind that the Lakers are having a rollercoaster type season similar to the Celtics. This Lakers team could’ve used IT. But it is what it is! That leaves room for the Celtics to make the move.
Isaiah Thomas Would Bring the Celtics Bench Scoring
We know that the Celtics have had problems with bench scoring for a few years now. We as fans also know that Isaiah Thomas can be an efficient scorer. Do you see where I’m going with this? The Celtics bench needs a boost anyway, right? Why not bring in Isaiah Thomas to be that guy that can bring scoring to a lacking Celtics bench? It can fit a need. This makes too much sense once you read it over a few times, right? Right?!
In Conclusion
It would really make things a lot more interesting for the Celtics this season. With Jayson Tatum now in protocols, the Celtics and their fans need something to be excited about. Isaiah Thomas would be that spark that Celtics fans are hoping for with this lackluster season. It would also be a great way to welcome back IT after shipping him out to Cleveland in the Kyrie Irving trade. Let’s make it happen Brad. Bring IT home!
