Coheed and Cambria made a stop at Boston’s new crowd favorite venue Roadrunner. We last saw them during summer of 2022 on their A Window of the Waking Mind tour. This time around, we saw the prog metal quartet on their Neverender: No World for the Waking Mind tour. Supporting the spring tour is Deafheaven, San Fran’s own black metal five-piece band. Opening the show with their unique sound, frontman George Clarke brings his harsh vocals to the band’s gentle sound, setting an exciting, and eerie tone for the show.

Claudio Sanchez stepped onto the stage with dim lights, and his acoustic guitar starting off with the first chords of “The Reaping” before going right into their lengthy setlist for the night. In between the piles of crowd surfers soaring above the audience, Coheed performed a strong mix of songs from their most recent 2022 album Vaxis II: A Window Of the Waking Mind, and from their fourth studio album No World for Tomorrow. We watched an eclectic crowd of all ages enjoy the sounds and vocals of a band who seems not to have aged in the almost 30 years they have been together.
