Cantabrigians have a new neighborhood go-to from the talented folks at Viale – Althea is officially open at the 907 Main hotel in Central Square. Taking over the space most recently occupied by The Dial, the new spot from co-owners Greg Reeves and Shauna Reyburn is open for dinner nightly from 5:00-10:00pm (drinks ‘til 12:00am) with weekend brunch and weekday lunch coming soon.
The debut menu (see below) features approachable American eats with fun takes on some classics (think: baked stuffed littlenecks with Althea bacon and roasted peppers, and Giannone chicken with potato gnocchi, salsa verde and black garlic jus). Reeves has already fired up the smoker and anticipates that every dish will benefit (see smokey lamb ribs with date molasses, za’atar yogurt and fresno, and grilled oysters with smokey lemon butter and focaccia crumbs).
With its floor to ceiling windows overlooking Main Street and Lafayette Square, the dining room combines design elements like exposed-brick walls and plush banquettes with natural components like greenery and natural sunlight for a feel that’s like a stylish, urban conservatory. The spacious, private outdoor dining area boasts its own bar as well as covered areas for rain-or-shine al fresco dining. In the height of the season, there’ll be live music and outdoor grilling.
