Jessica Pegula followed her win over top-seeded Coco Gauff in the semifinals of the ecotrans Ladies Open with a victory over Anna Kalinskaya in the tournament final on Sunday in Berlin, Germany.

The fourth-seeded Pegula was leading Gauff 7-5, 6-6 (3-1) before the match was suspended due to rain on Saturday. She won four of the final five points to dispatch Gauff.

Pegula rebounded from dropping the first set versus Kalinskaya to record a 6-7 (0), 6-4, 7-6 (3) victory over the Russian. Pegula needed two hours and 38 minutes to defeat Kalinskaya and win her fifth career title. She was competing in just her second tournament since her return from a rib injury.

Rothesay Classic

Kazakhstan’s Yulia Putintseva captured her third WTA Tour title with a 6-1, 7-6 (8) win over Australian Ajla Tomljanovic in the final in Birmingham, England.


Putintseva rallied from a 5-3 deficit in the second set and saved two set points to dispatch Tomljanovic in 98 minutes.

Tomljanovic fell to 0-5 in career finals.

Bad Homburg Open

Sixth-seeded Ekaterina Alexandrova cruised to a 6-3, 6-0 win over Nadia Podoroska of Argentina in the first round in Hamburg, Germany.

Eighth-seeded Mirra Andreeva was not as fortunate as her Russian countrywoman. Ukraine’s Dayana Yastremska posted a 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 win over Andreeva.
