It’s been a relatively slow lead-up to the trade deadline this year. The first few last week were relatively innocuous but have gotten progressively more interesting. Here’s a look at who and what have been traded.
Colorado – Anaheim (3/14)
Avalanche acquired defenseman Josh Manson. Manson had been with the Ducks since 2014. He’s scored 113 points in 455 NHL games. He was an alternate captain for the last three seasons. He has not scored any points in the two games with the Avs so far.
Anaheim acquired a second-round pick in 2023 and defenseman Drew Helleson. Helleson played three years with Boston College where he had 46 points in 82 games. He also travelled to Beijing for the Olympics last month. He has not played any NHL or AHL games so far in his career.
Colorado – Minnesota (3/15)
Colorado acquired German forward Nico Sturm. Sturm had been in the Wild system since 2019. He spent one year with the Iowa Wild, where he scored 32 points in 55 games. With Minnesota, he has scored 36 points in 112 games. He has not scored in his one game with the Avs.
Minnesota acquired forward Tyson Jost. Jost was drafted 10th overall in the 2016 draft. He has been with the Avs since 2017. He has scored 103 points in 323 NHL games. He has not scored any points in his two games with the Wild so far.
Florida – New York Rangers (3/16)
Florida acquired a 2022 fourth-round pick.
The New York Rangers acquired forward Frank Vatrano. Vatrano started his career with the Bruins in 2015 before moving to Florida in 2018. He has scored 157 points in 381 NHL games. He has not scored any points in his two games with the Rangers so far.
Montreal – Florida (3/16)
Montreal acquired a 2023 first-round pick, a 2022 fourth-round pick, and center Tyler Smilanic. Smilanic has played for Quinnipiac University for the past two years, scoring 43 points in 68 games. He has not played any NHL or AHL games so far in his career.
Florida acquired defenseman Ben Chiarot. Chiarot started his NHL career with the Winnipeg Jets in 2015 before moving to Montreal in 2019. He has scored 110 points in 469 NHL games. He has not played any games with the Panthers so far.
Calgary – Seattle (3/16)
Calgary acquired forward Calle Jarnkrok. Jarnkrok started his NHL career with the Nashville Predators in 2013. He moved to the Kraken for their inaugural season this year. He has 238 points in 559 NHL games. He has notched one assist in his two games with the Flames.
Seattle acquired a 2022 second-round pick, a 2023 third-round pick, and a 2024 seventh-round pick.
Chicago – Tampa Bay (3/18)
Chicago acquired a 2023 first-round pick, a 2024 first-round pick, left-winger Boris Katchouk, and right-winger Taylor Raddysh. Katchouk has been in the Lightning system since 2018. He spent 3 years in the AHL and made his NHL debut this season. He has 6 points in 38 NHL games. He did not score any points in his first game with the Blackhawks. Raddysh has also spent the last three years in the AHL and made his NHL debut this year. He has 12 points in 53 games. He also did not score in his first game with the Blackhawks.
Tampa acquired a 2022 fourth-round pick, a 2024 fourth-round pick, and left-winger Brandon Hagel. Hagel was with the Blackhawks organization since 2019. He has 61 points in 109 NHL games. He did not score any points in his first game with the Lightning.
Minnesota – Anaheim (3/19)
Minnesota acquired all-around player Nicolas Deslauriers. Deslauriers started his NHL career with the Buffalo Sabres in 2013 before moving to Montreal in 2017, then Anaheim in 2019. He has 82 points in 486 NHL games. He has not played any games with the Wild so far.
Anaheim acquired a 2023 third-round pick.
Boston – Anaheim (3/19)
Boston acquired defensemen Kodie Curran and Hampus Lindholm. Curran has played the last two seasons with the San Diego Gulls, where he has 29 points in 61 games. Lindholm has been with the Ducks since 2013. He has 222 points in 582 NHL games. He has not played any games with the Bruins so far.
Anaheim acquired a 2022 first-round pick, a 2023 second-round pick, a 2024 second-round pick, and defensemen John Moore and Urho Vaakanainen. Moore started his NHL career in Columbus in 2011. He has since played for the Rangers, the Devils, and the Bruins. He has 118 points in 544 games. Vaakanainen has been in the Bruins organization since 2018, spending most of his time in Providence. He has 6 points in 31 NHL games.
Anaheim will also retain 50% of Lindholm’s salary.
Florida – Philadelphia (3/19)
Florida acquired a 2024 fifth-round pick, and forwards Claude Giroux, Connor Bunnaman, and German Rubtsov. Giroux had been with Philadelphia since 2008, captain since 2012. He has 900 points in 1000 games. He has not played any games with the Panthers yet. Bunnaman had been with Philly since 2019 and split his time between the AHL and NHL. He has 3 points in 54 NHL games. Rubtsov has been in the Flyers system since 2018. He has 29 points in 93 AHL games.
Philadelphia acquired a 2023 third-round pick, a 2024 first-round pick, and winger Owen Tippett. Tippett has been with the Panthers organization since 2019. He has 33 points in 94 NHL games. He has not played any games with the Flyers yet.
